Improving Your Personal Cash Flow

Cash flow consists of the income that one makes minus the expenses that one has.  If you want to improve your personal cash flow, then you either need to increase your income, decrease your expenses, or do a combination of both.  Once you have a positive personal cash flow, then you can use the extra cash each month and use it to either pay off debts or purchase assets that will provide you with more cash.  Eventually, the amount of extra cash will add up such that your income from assets will be more than your monthly living expenses.  At that point, you are financially free. Money management and improving your personal cash flow is very important.

Why Investing in Silver May Be Smarter Than You Think

Gold prices are certainly expensive, but have you considered investing in silver? There are several reasons why investing in silver may be a very good idea, even better than investing in gold. Just two of the reasons discussed are the small size of the silver market when compared to gold and the fact that silver is affordable for a much greater number of people than gold. If you want to benefit from increased precious metals prices, now is the time to consider a silver investment.

Swing Trading Covered Calls for Extra Monthly Income

When managing a covered call portfolio requires an investor to have a rough idea of support and resistance in the stocks against which covered calls have been sold.  Using this knowledge, it is possible to swing trade the normal volatility of the stock market by selling covered calls when the stock approaches resistance, repurchase the calls when the stock declines toward support, and then resell the covered calls when the stock rallies again.  This does not change the overall position of the portfolio, but does allow the investor to make some extra monthly income which can be substantial for larger stock positions. If you know how to play the swings in the market you can supply yourself with some extra income.

Trading Goldman Sachs with Bull Put Spreads

Bull puts spreads are a type of option trade that allows an investor to sell puts on higher priced stocks while limiting the amount of downside risk.  The trade involves selling a put in order to bring cash into the trading account and purchasing a put at a lower strike price as protection against a major drop in the stock.  One of the best ways to learn about bull put spreads is by using an example.  The example for this trade uses the stock of Goldman Sachs which is a higher priced stock that may have some significant downside exposure but may have found a bottom.

Protective Puts and Goldman Sachs

Goldman Sachs has come under Congressional investigation as well as investigation by the SEC regarding certain transactions related to subprime mortgages. If you own stock, there are a myriad of possible "bad news" scenarios that will cause that stock to decline, sometimes severely. Protective puts can help protect the money you have invested in stocks. Puts act just like an insurance policy. You hope that you don't have to use them, but when you do, you are glad to have them. Insure your stock portfolio with put options.

The Collar Option

Most individuals trading stocks or options have heard of covered calls. Covered calls are often touted as a great way to make income against your stock portfolio. The problem associated with covered calls, however, is that all of your good stocks are called away while the crappy ones are left in your portfolio. A little bit of premium income is little consolation when your stock drops 50% because of a bad earnings report. In other words, your upside is limited while you retain most of the downside risk.

Selling Puts as an Alternative to Rolling Up Covered Calls

If you have ever sold a covered call and then had the stock take off, you are sure to regret it.  The lost profit is enough to make you pull your hair out especially if the stock had been sitting in a trading range for quite some time.  Rather than having to spend a lot of money buying back the call and rolling up, there is another alterative.  Consider selling puts on the stock instead while you wait for the stock to decline or settle into a new trading range.  Let's look at an example to explain what I mean.

IRS Audit Manual: IRS Audit Procedures

Preparation is the most important part of the audit. You will win or lose based on your preparation. Small errors should not concern you. Sometimes you have more deductions in a column than originally reported on the tax return. If other columns are short, it could be that you mixed receipts between the columns. This is also a common occurrence, especially between similar types of deductions. Supplies, office expense, and postage are similar enough to have some postage or supplies listed as an office expense.
